Omniwear Sharpshooter was a demo made to show off the capabilities of a prototyped hat, lined with haptic motors (AKA The Haptic Hat).
My task was to design the UI and get it into the experience—built in Unity for Desktop and the Oculus Rift—while our engineers wrote an SDK and Unity packages to help third-party developers to easily integrate their games with the device.
The three phases of the demo are visual only, visual and haptics, and haptics only, allowing consumers to see how the device might improve their aim and response time.
The purpose of the device was to give feedback on the scalp, alerting them to the relative positions of objects (likely enemies in a first-person shooter). Omniwear later changed the design from a hat to more of a collar when they sought out more funding.
